For the month of September, I’m inviting us all to reflect on the gifts we’ve been given and how we share them. This is an extension of our vestry retreat where we talked about our strengths and our needs as a community.
As a community we have many gifts which you all demonstrate consistently- welcome, generosity, compassion. Ephesians reminds us each of us as individuals are given gifts for the good of all, to build up the whole community of faith so it’s working smoothly. You’ll find in the vestry summary a list of some places your gifts might fit. I invite you to consider them prayerfully.
September is full of opportunities to gather as a community –
Bishop Steve is coming to celebrate our shared ministry. My first two years with you were a chance for us to rebuild and to see how well we fit together as priest and community. Now that we’re in this for the long term, the Bishop is coming to formalize our relationship. This is a great chance to celebrate Trinity’s uniqueness, hear from our Bishop and give your kids a chance to meet the Bishop. I hope to see you on September 12th at 4 pm.
On September 19th we are taking our Trinity joy and welcome out into the community by hosting a table at Fall Fest. We need people to staff the table for an hour or two, especially between 11-1, as we are also celebrating Elaine Zamrok’s life that morning. Please sign up on the bulletin board in the parish hall or talk with a member of vestry.
And if your gifts are in painting or moving furniture, we’d love to have your help finishing up the nursery refurbishment. Trinity needs all your gifts to be the fullest expression of God’s love in our town and village. So listen to those Holy Spirit nudges, and let us know where you are being drawn to serve.

Sunday School – Welcome Back
Our Sunday School is an all-ages group that meets at 9:30 Sunday mornings in the parish hall under the direction of Julia Tomaka. All children are welcome to join. Bring your backpack to church Sept.6 at 9:30am for a blessing. Sunday School will begin Sept 20th.
This year we are looking for some Sunday School helpers. We hope to have enough volunteers to have a rotating schedule so you would only need to be available one Sunday per month or every other month.
We are also hoping to have the nursery available by mid-September for little ones and their parents with a live stream of the service and a play area.
Acolyte for a day – Are you interested in serving at the altar during church? Join Pastor Karen 9/6 or 9/13 and try it out. Training will be offered in October.
Vestry Summary
Vestry met August 30 for a retreat at St Matthias. Prayer and discussion on the topic of what’s working and what needs more care. Short term goals work on additional budget for operational support as we continue to grow. Search for additional adults as secondary support for Sunday School. Consider a care ministry” Sunshine” to connect with current and former members. Continue working on the nursery. A productive afternoon with many good ideas.
Altar Guild
Altar Guild met June 19 for some cleaning and to begin our inventory. Our next meeting is scheduled for November 1 after church. Karen and Mary Rose are scheduled for September. We will once again begin decorating the front of our altar with a gathering of falls bounty beginning September 27th.
Women of Trinity
WOT held a luncheon August 5, our next luncheon will be Oct. 6, noon at Hillview Restaurant, all are welcome. We are beginning to get ready for the Snowflake Bazaar which will be held Nov.7 this year. Please mark your calendars. This is our biggest fundraiser and we need everyone’s help to make it a success. Donations for Granny’s attic can be placed downstairs on or under tables. Please keep the center area clear for the exercise class, thank you.

Dash’s Receipts
Please continue to save your Dash market receipts and ask your friends for theirs. There is box located downstairs in the parish hall or put them on table in the front of the church. This is a great program; we receive cash for your receipts! Thank you
Church Repairs
The plastering and painting have been completed over the summer. The church and sacristy are looking much better. Come and see the improvement.
Bottle Drop Off
Don’t forget you can now drop your bottles and cans off at Cash for Cans on George Urban and Trinity will get the proceeds. Just label your bag of returns Trinity Episcopal Lancaster. No need to wait in line they have a table to drop and leave your donations. Thank you.

Outreach Opportunities
$479.39 was deposited in our account from St. Pauly’s July and 366.97 August 5. Great job! Please pass the word, about the St. Pauly’s Shed in the parking lot for clothing and shoe donations.
Food Pantry always appreciates any donation you can share. There is a basket upstairs in the church and a drop off bin located outside the kitchen door.
Our Family Caregivers group is open to everyone. Next meeting is September 24th. If you know someone who is caring for a family member and could use some support, please invite them to join us. Online participation is available by emailing the church.
Sandwiches for the Unhoused –sandwich making gathering Oct 4 @10:45am.
Kids Day Volunteers We’d like to have a team from Trinity participate in selling Kid’s Day editions of the Buffalo News on October 3rd. See Craig K for more information.
Convention outreach ingathering this year we are collecting donations for Jamestown Community College Food Pantry. Many students experience food insecurity and struggle to afford everyday essentials. We will have a collection box in the narthex and will take donated items to convention. Suggestions include boxed pasta, noodles, rice all verities. Canned soups, ravioli and pastas, vegetables. Instant mashed potatoes and gravy packets. Cereal, instant oatmeal, peanut butter and jelly. Fruit snacks, fruit cups, granola bars, hot chocolate, tea packets and toiletries.
