Trinity Tidings – October 2026

God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8

All things come of thee of Lord, and of thy own have we given thee.

This prayer, historically said when as our offerings are brought forward to the altar, captures the reality of our lives. Everything we have and everything we are comes from our good God, the Creator of all.

October begins our harvest season. We build our harvest altar, we go searching for pumpkins, we move towards the triduum of All Hallows, All Saints and All Souls days. We celebrate the abundance of God’s gifts. And we remember that each of us has been given gifts to share, gifts needed to bring the fullness of God’s reign into being.

Throughout October and November, we’ll be praying with the spiritual Plenty Good Room. You can hear it here. This song reminds us of the abundance of God’s love. Everyone has a place at the table. And everyone’s gifts are needed for the work we are given to do.

Paying attention to the abundance of God’s gifts can inspire us to share our resources, to build relationships with our neighbors. Paying attention to God’s abundance teaches us to see scarcity differently.

In God’s reign, there is no need that cannot be met. The barriers whave placed between met and unmet needs are ours, not God’s. Time and again, I’ve seen the people of Trinity overcome barriers by creatively using the resources we have. Volunteers offer to paint the nursery or set up tables for a special event. People offer what they have to support the mission and ministry of this congregation.

This month is also a time we begin to plan for the year ahead. In a few weeks, you’ll be receiving our annual Stewardship letter. This year’s stewardship theme, Plenty Good Room, invites us to recognize the abundance God has already entrusted to us. Even in uncertain times, we are called to trust that there is enough: enough for our families, enough for our church, enough for our neighbors. For now I invite us all to begin reflecting on the resources God has placed in our care, and considering how we might share them joyfully in the year ahead.
