Trinity Tidings – June 2026

In him we live and move and have our being’;

Acts 17:28

As I write, we are preparing to celebrate Trinity Sunday, the feast which defines our character as a parish. We will remember we are made in the image of a God who is inherently relational.  Relationships are central to who we are as a community of faith, and to how we live our faith in the world around us. We’re heading towards summer, a time when we are often out and about. We’re spending time in our yards or at parks. We’re traveling to spend time with family and friends and to experience the wonder of God’s creation. We take our faith in the triune God with us into all these settings. Later in this newsletter you’ll find information on some of the ways we plan to be present in our community this summer. I encourage you to participate in whatever way you can.

Taking God’s life into the community is the work of all believers. It’s a ministry which stems from our baptism, where we promise to proclaim the good news of God in Christ. On Saturday September 12, 2026 at 4 pm, we will welcome Bishop Steve to celebrate a renewal of our shared ministry. This will be our primary celebration of Eucharist this weekend. The Bishop’s visit will include the Renewal of Ministry celebration, which includes Eucharist; a reception with light refreshments and meeting with the vestry.

You may be wondering, why we do this, and why now? The Episcopal church believes the primary ministers of the church are the laity, followed by bishops, priests and deacons. All ministry flows from baptism. And parishes are typically led by a rector or priest in charge, whose role is to pastor and to nourish the ministry of all the baptized.  It’s worth celebrating the commitment we made in December to share in this ministry of making God present in Lancaster. We will name the growth we’ve experienced and the hopes we have for life at Trinity.  Calendar constraints meant we had to wait until September.  So enjoy your summer, and mark your calendars for Saturday September 12 at 4 pm.

Peace and all good,

Karen+
