TrinityTidings-March2026

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Romans 12:2

My dear siblings in Christ,

Recently a friend shared a picture of a snowdrop in her yard. I wanted to cheer. For many of us, it has been a long winter. Perhaps like me, you too are ready for Spring.  While we have a little while before crocus and daffodils, we are already two weeks into Lent, sometimes known as the Springtime of the church.  That’s because Lent was traditionally a time of preparation for baptism, receiving the life of Christ at Easter. And it became a time in which all of us are invited to deepen our relationship with Christ, to consider how we’re following Jesus, to try for a closer walk, a deeper following of Jesus’ Way of love, a more robust practice of justice and mercy. In this Spring we’re asking to cooperate with God the great gardener to renew our minds. That means letting Scripture and the artists and writers who reflect on Scripture challenge any ways of thinking which don’t line up with the good news of God in Christ.

Jesus showed us God’s mercy is extravagant, so we’re asked to let go of judgements and expecting everyone to do things our way. Jesus showed us God’s love is abundant, so we’re asked to let go of our fear there won’t be enough and trust in our provident God. Jesus showed us God welcomes those who have no power, everyone society overlooks or sees as unimportant, so we’re asked to care for the vulnerable. And just like Spring, the transformation of our minds and hearts takes time before those first green shoots, signs of new life appear.  So stay the course. God is at work in you. And if you need some encouragement, pick up a set of the daily prayer cards or a devotional, or join us for Compline each Thursday in Lent.

Women of Trinity

Our WOT luncheon was held February 4 at Hillview Restaurant; a good time was had by all. Our Lenten soup sale was a success, we sold 59 quarts of soup, the pasta e fagioli was a hit!  A new recipe provided us with more soup than we needed. We were able to donate some of the extra soup to the Love ministry at the cathedral.  WOT April luncheon will be held at Trinity, April 7 at noon. We will be serving soup, salad and bread.   Thank you for supporting this fundraiser.
