Trinity Tidings – September 2024
The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it, the world and all its creatures.
Psalm 24
For no part of creation is left void of God: God has filled all things everywhere.
St. Athanasius
My dear siblings in Christ,
I hope your summer was renewing and refreshing. September promises to be full of joy and learning. Our program year begins 9/8 with a blessing of backpacks, students and teachers.
We’ve moved our monthly coffee hour to 9/8 as well, so we can celebrate new beginnings. We’ll be welcoming a new Girl Scout troop into our hall on Thursday evenings, some of whom may join us for the backpack blessing and other upcoming service opportunities.
Sunday School begins 9/15 during our Sunday Service, please register now.
Opportunities for adult faith formation include our Book Group, which will be reading Faith Hope and Hospitality and meeting on Thursday evenings at 7 pm.
From Sunday 9/1 through Sunday 10/6 we will be celebrating the ecumenical Season of Creation in union with our siblings across many Christian denominations. This Season invites us to examine how we relate to the earth. The Gospel calls us to grow in faith as we affirm that God in Christ loves, redeems, and sustains the whole of Creation, not only human beings. We’ll learn about the Episcopal Church’s Creation Care Pledge and share what we’re already doing to care for creation and what we would like to do better. We’ll also be creating our own version of the season’s logo – so stop by the parish hall and add the tracing of your hand to our communal art project. Our celebration of this season will include a Pet Blessing on 10/3 at 6:30 pm, in front of the church, or in the hall if it’s raining. We’ll be collecting donations of pet food in collaboration with WNY Food 4 Paws.
September also brings opportunities for service. We will commission our new Eucharistic Ministers, and express our gratitude to those who continue to serve as lectors and musicians. I would like to form a Communications team, to work with me in implementing some of the communication needs identified at our 2024 annual meeting. We’re hoping to more effectively share stories about how we are living Jesus’ way of love and invite our neighbors to join us. Please let me know if the Spirit is tugging at your heart to serve in this way. — Karen+
