Trinity Tidings – April 2026

They said to each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he was talking to us on the road, while he was opening the scriptures to us?”

Lk 24:32

Alleluia, Christ is Risen! The Lord is risen indeed, alleluia!

This year April brings us to Easter season. We celebrate Christ’s resurrection. We re-tell the stories of those first disciples, encountering the risen Lord, amazed, confused, questioning, wondering. Thomas reminds us there is always room for doubt. The disciples on the road to Emmaus remind us our understanding of resurrection life, of God’s work in our lives, unfolds gradually. We experience Christ’s spirit at work in our lives in community. The Spirit opens up the Scriptures to us, invites us to pay attention to what makes our hearts burn.

Sometimes our burning hearts show up as a sense of urgency, a feeling we have to take action now. Sometimes our burning hearts show up as amazement, wonder at what God is doing in our lives or in our community.

As we travel on the road with Jesus, the Spirit is at work in our midst, revealing, inviting, encouraging, and sometimes insisting.  This Easter season I invite us all to pay attention to what makes our hearts burn.

Are there things we need to do to follow Jesus more closely? Are there community partnerships we’re being invited to explore? Are there resources you need to grow in your faith?  Let’s talk about it all. For surely the risen Lord is with us, present and active in our midst.
