Trinity Tidings – June 2024

speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.  From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. Ephesians 4:15-16 NIV

My beloved siblings in Christ,

As we move towards summer, with its long days and focus on outdoor life, I want to share with you a summary of the fruit of the vestry retreat in May. We reviewed what you shared with us at the annual meeting, identified priorities, developed two goals for the rest of this year and refreshed our mission statement in light of who we are now.

Our refreshed mission statement is: A growing community called to live the gospel through prayer and outreach. All are welcome at our table!

Our priorities for the coming year include: growth, outreach and communication. For the full discussion of assets, needs and ideas in each area please see the Vestry Retreat Outcomes posted on the Church bulletin board in the parish hall.

Growth includes both growing our numbers and growing our understanding of how we live our discipleship, what it means to be an active member of this faith community. Our goal is to Grow the Church by bringing more people into church. Our objectives are to add 3 families to the church by the next annual meeting and participate in 3 events in Lancaster.  Possibilities discussed were the 4th of July race, Garden Walk, and Zombieville.

Strengthen our Outreach by adding at least one outreach program. Our objective(s) are to add a caregiver support group by Dec. 1st. This could include a Blue Christmas service. Additionally, we will continue to work on our communication including our online presence, promotions, newsletter and phone tree, using multiple methods of communication to be sure everyone is connected.

I encourage you to think about what small part the Spirit may be inviting you to play in our growth towards these objectives. Could you help hand out water to runners on the 4th of July? Help staff a table for the garden walk on July 20-21st? Invite a friend or neighbor to come to a social event this summer or Fall?  Do you like to research topics online, take photographs, edit videos?  The Body of Christ here at Trinity needs your contribution to grow into our full measure of love.  Please share your thoughts with me or any member of vestry.

Wishing you a blessed and fruitful June,

Karen+
