Trinity Tidings – April 2024

When he was at the table with them, he took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him; and he vanished from their sight.

Luke 24: 30-31

My dear siblings in Christ,

Alleluia, Christ is Risen! Our celebration of Easter was rich and festive. I’m so grateful for everyone whose labor, contributions and prayers made our Holy Week liturgies beautiful and memorable. Our celebration of Easter continues for the next fifty days. During this time, I hope we can imitate those first disciples on the road to Emmaus, by recognizing Jesus in the ones with whom we journey, and by witnessing to the power of Christ’s resurrection at work in our community.

On April 8th, many of us will be gathering with friends, family and neighbors to witness the solar eclipse. I hope we can all take the opportunity to talk with our neighbors, strengthen those relationships and notice any needs in our community to which we may called to respond as Jesus’ disciples.  If the Spirit stirs something up in you, please let me or any member of vestry know.

Over the next few months, I’ll be focusing on getting to know you better, as individuals, families and followers of Jesus.  Don’t be surprised if I reach out asking to meet for coffee. And feel free to ask me too. As we move into Spring, it will soon be time to plant our community garden. We’re also preparing for our next Baptism Sunday, which will be on May 19th.  Baptism is available for both children and adults. If you or someone you know has been considering baptism, confirmation or would like to be received into the church please reach out to me.

I do want to let you know; I am deferring the traditional time off during Easter week until later in April. I will be out of town from April 24-May 2 on a family trip, which will include participation in an Episcopal revival in Northern California. For pastoral emergencies during this time contact Len or the office. They have contact information for Rev. Jason who is providing pastoral coverage during my time away.

Peace and all good,

Karen+

Many thanks to everyone who helped prepare the church for Easter. Your time, talents and donations were very much appreciated. Trinity was beautiful to celebrate the risen Lord!

Women of Trinity

Our Shoe Drive is underway and we need EVERYONE to help to make it a success. We are attempting to collect 100 bags of shoes with 25 pairs in each bag!  Please check your closet, ask your neighbors on each side of your house, ask your friends, family, coworkers and teammates. We are not asking you to sell or buy anything just collect gently used shoes and bring them in. Every pair you donate turns into funds for us, the shoes are kept out of landfills and it helps people around the world.  If you’re on social media please share our posts about the drive thru event to be held April 20 from 11-2. Drive thru, pop the trunk and we’ll get your shoes out Please help us spread the word!  We are collecting new and gently used shoes. Men’s, women’s, kids, dress, sneakers flip flops everything but roller blades and ice skates. Only shoes that could be reused, no shoes that are wet, moldy or have holes.  We are really excited about this. Our goal is to make $1000.00. Can you help us reach our goal?

WOT held a luncheon/ meeting on April 4 at the Olive Tree. Monies raised from our 2023 fundraisers will be used for the landscaper who will start April 22. The balance of 2023 funds raised will go towards foundation repairs. WOT has also agreed to pay for a scholarship for youth church camp. All possible because of you support our fundraisers, thank you!

WOT will be hosting a luncheon for food pantry and postal workers May 11th, volunteers needed.

Outreach

Food Pantry needs desert mixes like brownies, cakes and cookies. They are also looking for side dishes like pasta, rice and single mashed potatoes. Thank you for your continued support of this ministry. Director Tammie Schaefer is looking into a new Food Pantry sign for the front of church.

In March $208.85 was deposited in our account from St. Pauly, great job! Please pass the word, about the St. Pauly’s Shed in the parking lot. It’s a win- win situation, people in need get clothing, blankets etc.  and church gets paid by the pound for donations. Thank you!!!

Dash’s Receipts

Please continue to save your Dash market receipts and ask your friends for theirs.  We are collecting them as part of a fundraising project. There is box located downstairs in the parish hall or put them on table in the front of the church.
