Trinity Tidings – November 2023

If it is possible, as far as it depends on you,

Live at peace with everyone.”

Romans 12:18

Fellow Parishioners:

Exciting news, Trinity has a candidate to interview for our Priest-In- Charge position. If you have any questions you would like the interview team to ask or if you’d like to be part of the interview team, please let us know. There are forms in the bulletins or let a vestry member know. Save the date! The Women of Trinity are busy getting ready for our annual Snowflake Bazaar which will be held on Nov. 11 from 10-3. We need all kinds of help! Donations wanted for granny’s attic, baked goods and baskets or gift cards for the raffle. We will also need help setting up and working the event. Sign- up sheets are posted outside kitchen, perhaps you can spare a couple of hours. November is also our stewardship month. We are able to keep our ministry afloat due to your faithful giving. Through God’s guidance many good things continue to happen at Trinity and we are continually thankful for your support to help make it possible. Your pledges make budgeting much easier. We appreciate all of your time, talent and treasure!

We also are preparing for the upcoming Advent season. We will have copies of the Living Compass Advent devotional for families that would like one. This is something new we are trying; and our hope is this will make your Advent season more meaningful, as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ.

A Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving to all of our church family!!

Sunday School is going great!  We have some new friends joining us, and some old ones returning. Julia Tomaka and Carrie Kornacki have been making it a fun learning experience. It is such a joy to see the children participate in the service. All children are welcome Sunday mornings at 9:30 am in the main hall. We’d love to see you join us too

Vestry Summary

The vestry met October 13,2023. They are continuing to work with Canon Craig Dressler on finding a permanent clergy person for Trinity. The vestry was informed that there is someone interested in our clergy position. They have put an interview team in place and invited anyone from the congregation who would like to serve on this team or submit a question to reach out. Vestry has renewed the snowplow contract so we are ready if it snows.

Altar Guild

Trinity will continue to enjoy our fall decorations thru Thanksgiving. There will be a brief Altar guild meeting November 5th following the 9:30 am service. This is a rewarding ministry and new members are always welcome. November altar schedule includes Cathi and Pat.

Remember you can request a memorial or thanksgiving by filling out the form found in back of church or downstairs or on the web. The cost for the Sanctuary candle remains $10 but the cost of a floral arrangement has increased to $35 for a small arrangement or $60 for a large. Completed order forms may be placed in collection plate, through slot in office door, or mailed in. Requests must be received the Sunday before your requested date.

Women of Trinity

Our SNOWFLAKE BAZAAR will be held November 11, 10-3. We will have our famous clam chowder lunch, presale soup quarts, baked goods, crafts, basket and Afghan raffle and of course Granny’s Attic!  Donations for granny’s attic may be brought to the undercroft anytime. Baskets, gift cards and craft donations are also always welcomed. Local merchants have been generous with their donations, rumor has it we even have an autographed Buffalo Bills cleat!  Baked goods needed for the bake sale, and can be dropped off 11/10 or 11/11.  Pre-sale soup order forms will be in the bulletin and on our webpage.  This is a major fundraiser for the church and we’re hoping for a huge success!  Consider helping, many hands make light work. There are sign-up sheets across from the kitchen.

Stitch and Chat

Please join us Tuesdays from 10 am -12 pm. The last Tuesday of the month we have a healing Eucharist service at 11:30 am. This is a wonderful opportunity for those who find the 9:30 service difficult to attend, all are welcome at our table.

Outreach

Lancaster Volunteer Ambulance food drive to benefit our pantry is November 18, volunteers needed to help sort food.

Trinity’s food pantry has resumed delivery to shut-ins. If you know of someone in need of this service, please have them call church at 716-683-1111 and a food pantry volunteer will call them back and set it up. Trinity Food Pantry ‘s mailing address is PO Box 467, Lancaster, NY 14086.

In October $332 was deposited in our account from St. Pauly, great job! Please pass the word, about the St. Pauly’s Shed in the parking lot. It’s a win- win situation, people in need get clothing, blankets etc.  and church gets paid by the pound for donations. Thank you!!!

We have also reached out to a Lancaster Elementary School about our Christmas Giving Tree. Hopefully we will be able to continue the tradition. More info to follow.

Dash’s Receipts

Please continue to save your Dash market receipts and ask your friends for theirs.  We are collecting them as part of a fundraising project. There is box located downstairs in the parish hall or put them on table in the front of the church. Thanks to your efforts we are ready to turn in our first batch of receipts, $5000 worth. We should receive a check $125. It didn’t take us long at all, please keep saving them.
