Trinity Tidings – December 2022
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace,
good will toward men.
Luke 2:14
From Pastor Ann
Season’s Greetings, My Beloved Family in Christ!
Advent is upon us, Indian Summer has breathed its last, the time has changed so it’s dark by 5:00. Our long winter is about to begin, and we’re probably all starting to gear up for the holiday season. As I write this, Thanksgiving is next week! Wait! Where did October and half of November go?
Advent is the time when we truly begin to anticipate the coming of Christ, both the Christ child in Bethlehem, and the risen, ascended Lord who will come to judge the earth, and to bring the fullness of the kingdom among us. And so, we prepare, not just with Christmas trees, lights, and gifts, but we prepare our hearts as a fitting dwelling place for Christ. I do hope you can make a practice of taking just a few minutes a day for quiet prayer and reflection, for thoughts about how to make this holiday season even more a reflection of the great gift we were given by God, with the birth of Jesus. I hope you can reflect on the gathering darkness, where mystery and wisdom are hidden for us to seek and find. I hope you have an Advent wreath with candles that you can light, to remind you of the warmth of God’s love, and Christ as the light of the world.
As for our parish family doings, we have the Sunday School program to look forward to, and the bishop’s visit, four young people who will be confirmed, and a festive reception to follow the regular Sunday service. That visit will take place on the Fourth Sunday of Advent, December 18. The Women of Trinity will have a Christmas luncheon at the Olive Tree December 7th at noon. We are truly up and running now.
November is frequently called “Gratitude Month,” when we focus on everything we’re grateful for. For myself, I intend to make my whole holiday season a time of gratitude. I have so many blessings in my life, and I want you to know that Trinity, this parish family, YOU, are one of the greatest blessings that I am lucky enough to enjoy. I hope your holiday season will be a joyful and meaningful one.

We hope to make a Merry Christmas for this family. Thanks for supporting this worthwhile cause, as we spread the joy of the season in our community!
Trinity’s food pantry will resume delivery to shut-ins. If you know of someone in need of this service, please have them call church at 716-683-1111 and a food pantry volunteer will call them back and set it up. Trinity Food Pantry ‘s mailing address is PO Box 467, Lancaster, NY 14086. As always donations are always welcome, especially cereal and personal hygiene.
